Do not forget the reality of life

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.

The Robert Frost poem “Miles to Go Before I Sleep” is a deep reflection on the inevitable reality of mortality that every human being faces.

In life, everyone who comes into this world also walks a path that ultimately leads to the verge of death.

It’s a fundamental truth that all living things have an expiration date, a finite existence. However, what sets this reality apart is that the specific date, the moment our journey ends, remains concealed from our awareness. We move through life, day by day, year by year, holding on to the hope that we have more time and that our life’s journey is far from its final destination.

The poem depicts this feeling in the line, “Woods are lovely, dark, and deep, miles to go before I sleep.”

It presents an image of a peaceful forest that stands before us, representing the unknown challenges life has in store for us. The ‘miles to go’ signify the responsibilities, dreams, and goals we must fulfill and achieve during our lifetime.

The real essence of life lies in the journey itself. The unpredictability of when our last breath will be drawn adds a profound layer of mystery to our existence. We continue to persevere, driven by the hope of achieving our aspirations and discharging our duties, even though we do not know how much time we have. We press forward, embracing the enigmatic nature of life, and striving to make the most of the moments we are given.

In essence, the poem reminds us that life is not just about reaching the final destination, but about savoring every step of the journey, even in the face of the unknown. It encourages us to acknowledge the responsibilities and obligations that life bestows upon us and to face them with determination and purpose, for it is in this journey that we discover the true meaning and significance of our existence.

Begin living your life with your loved ones without the fear of tomorrow. Live every day of your life.
